Christians need to have a lot of answers. ‘Why is that?’ you might ask. Well, because they get asked a lot of questions!! As mature Christians it is our duty to answer questions about our faith as we can and find the answers for those we can’t. But there is one big questions we must all know the answer to…
One area of Christian study that I love is called ‘apologetics’. Now this does not mean that we are apologizing for anything, in the Greek this word means ‘to give a reason for’. Thus biblical apologetics is an area of biblical study where we determine the reason or way behind things. However, apologetics are not necessary for us to have the answer to that one big question that we must all know the answer to. It is a question that we must never forget, a question that we must be prepared to answer whenever anyone asks it, the answer must be engraved on our hearts… What is that question?
As Christians we have hope. We have the knowledge of an eternal and everlasting future in a wonderful place with no pain, no suffering, no tears. A place of joy and celebration, a wonderful heaven, and a new earth!! But why do we have that hope?
Scripture teaches us the importance of being able to answer that question:
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, (1Pe 3:15 NIV)
What gives us that hope? Christ. Christ set apart in our hearts as Lord. Never forget the reason for our hope. Never forget the ultimate gift that our Lord and Savior gave us so that we may have hope in this world!!
